This Mobile Application is developed as a supporting tool for the Management Information System (MIS) of WB-JJM project undertaken by the Public Health Engineering Department of Government of West Bengal. The project is missioned to provide Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) to each and every rural household and in Schools, Anganwadi Centers, Health Centers and other Public & Government institutions & buildings. The entire data management is done through this WB-JJM MIS for monitoring and surveillance purpose. WB-JJM mobile application is an Android Application developed for the collection of data on the Functional Tap Connections in the Households and in various Institutions in rural Bengal from the field. The application provides an expedient medium through easy navigation panel for data collection in separate sectors for Households, Schools, Anganwadi Centers and Other Public Institutions, like- Health Centers, Community Centers, Community Toilets, G.P. Building/ Panchayat Ghar etc. It presents the forms of data collection in the most lucid pattern and captures the location automatically. This is an offline data collection tool to avoid the infrequency of the internet connection in the remote parts of the village areas. The internet is only required prior to the survey for syncing the base data, i.e., the boundary details of the villages in the phone for offline viewing and at the time of data upload after the survey. The application is secured with specific login credentials at village level provided by the concerned official of the department and through user registration via valid number of mobile phone. The data fields are protected with appropriate data validations and drop down list wherever and whichever applicable. This application also facilitates the visualization of the collected location points over Google satellite image for scrutinization of the surveyed coverage and for individual data check. It provides the benefit of correcting data wrongly captured previously by reassigning. The collection of the information can be done in all ways through option select, text/no. entry and image capture modes. The captured data are stored in the enumerator’s phone during the survey as the application works in offline mode. After acquiring proper internet connection, the data can be uploaded and synced to the department’s server for loading. The enumerator can view the status of the data upload through the application itself. How does this work? 1. Download the application in your phone. 2. Allow the access for location information and image capture. 3. Login with defined user credentials as provided by the respective Division. 4. Register yourself through mobile phone no. 5. Capture data at the required module through proper data field channels. The WB-JJM Mobile application is a very light in size and helps to gather information through an eloquent manner and a user friendly method. The navigation panel is simple to find the required modules and understand the flow of the data collection. It has an in-built map view setting which helps the user to locate his/her location for tracking the surveyed count over the specified village. The application ensures the data safety and security through encrypted transmission of data from the mobile application to the server. It is one of the most reliable data collection tool appreciated by WBPHED.
